Best International Calling Apps in 2026: VoixCall vs Yadaphone, Rebtel, Yolla and 4 More

• By VoixCall Team

Short answer: if you want one account that calls any landline or mobile from your browser and from a native iPhone or Android app, with no subscription and credits that never expire, VoixCall is built for that. It costs about 2.7¢/min to the US and Canada, connects to US 1-800 numbers from abroad, and gives you a number that receives texts. On the routes we compared, it also costs less than the browser-only alternatives Yadaphone and BoraPhone.

We make VoixCall, so read this with that in mind. We have tried to say plainly where the others are better. Every fact below comes from each service’s own website, help center or app store listing, checked on October 17, 2026. Prices change, so check the rate for your destination before you buy credit.

Quick picks

  • One account for browser and phone, plus a number that receives texts: VoixCall
  • Calling a US bank, airline or 1-800 line from abroad: VoixCall, Yadaphone or BoraPhone. All three place the call from the US, so toll-free numbers connect. How it works
  • Hours of calls every month to one country, and you only call from your phone: an unlimited plan such as Rebtel’s (India from $12 for 30 days).
  • Lower per-minute rates than other browser services: VoixCall. See the rate comparison below.
  • Free calls to US and Canadian numbers, if you live in the US: Google Voice.
  • The person you’re calling has WhatsApp, FaceTime or Viber: call them there for free. None of the services below are needed. (Why WhatsApp can’t call a hotel or a bank)
  • Notes from the call, with the case number written down for you: VoixCall’s call transcripts and AI summaries, $0.02/min on top of a recorded call.

Each service in a paragraph

VoixCall

VoixCall calls any landline or mobile in 160+ countries from your browser at app.voixcall.com, or from the iPhone and Android apps. It’s the same account and the same credit everywhere, so you can start a call on a laptop and make the next one from your phone. Pricing is pay-as-you-go: about 2.7¢/min to the US and Canada, 3¢ to UK landlines and 5.2¢ to UK mobiles, 8¢ to Indian mobiles. Credits never expire and the first call is free. You can rent a local number that receives SMS from $2.00/month, show your own verified number as caller ID, record calls, and turn on AI call notes that pull out case numbers and booking codes. You can pay by card, UPI or Razorpay, which matters if you’re paying in rupees. There’s a shared team wallet with no seat fees.

Where it falls short: sending texts isn’t available yet (receiving is). AI call notes are in the web app first. The iOS app is new, so it doesn’t have the thousands of App Store reviews Rebtel and Talk360 have. Mobiles in some countries cost much more than landlines, so check the rate before a long call.

Yadaphone

Yadaphone is the closest service to VoixCall in a browser: credits that never expire, custom caller ID, virtual numbers with an SMS inbox, recordings, and US toll-free calling from abroad. It doesn’t have an app in the App Store or Google Play (we checked on October 17, 2026), so on a phone you use the website. Larger credit packs come with bonus credit. Its published rates were higher than VoixCall’s on every route in the rate comparison.

BoraPhone

BoraPhone is a browser-only service from Oslo with a $5 minimum top-up, bonus credit on larger packs, and a refund for calls that fail. Calls are billed per minute, rounded up. Virtual numbers start at about $2 to $3 a month. Recording and AI transcripts are part of its Enterprise plan. BoraPhone itself says it isn’t for SMS or messaging.

Rebtel

Rebtel is one of the oldest names in international calling and has the most reviews (4.8 stars from about 125,000 ratings on the US App Store). It’s app-only, with no browser dialer. Its strength is unlimited monthly plans for one country, such as India for $12 per 30 days, if you call that country for hours every month from your phone. Credits are valid for one year. The unlimited plans are for normal personal use, not business calling. VoixCall vs Rebtel

Yolla

Yolla is an app (iPhone and Android, plus web calls from a computer) that shows your own phone number to the person you call, so they know it’s you. Calls start at 4¢/min, and you can send texts for $0.15 each. Unused credit goes inactive after 365 days without use. You can reactivate it, but reactivated credit can’t be refunded.

Talk360

Talk360 is app-only: its help center says there’s no desktop or browser version. It supports more than 50 payment methods, which helps in countries where cards are hard to use. Credit lasts 365 days and the clock resets each time you call or top up. Rates depend on the country and on landline vs mobile.

Viber Out

Viber Out adds calls to real phone numbers to the Viber app, with credit or monthly plans. It’s convenient if you already use Viber. Credit is tied to your Viber account: you lose it if you deactivate the account, uninstall Viber for more than three months, or change your number without updating it. VoixCall vs Viber

Google Voice

If you live in the US, Google Voice gives you a free US number and free calls to most US and Canadian numbers, in a browser or the apps. International calls are charged per minute. The catch is availability: personal Google Voice accounts are US-only, so it doesn’t help if you live outside the US. VoixCall vs Google Voice

What about Skype and WhatsApp?

Skype shut down on May 5, 2025, and Skype Credit went with it. Microsoft Teams Free doesn’t offer pay-as-you-go calls to phone numbers. (Our Skype alternatives roundup) WhatsApp, FaceTime and Signal are free but only reach people who have the same app. They can’t call a hotel front desk, a bank’s fraud line or a government office.

How to choose in four questions

  1. Who are you calling? A person who has WhatsApp: use WhatsApp. A business, bank, airline, hotel or landline: you need one of the services above.
  2. What device will you call from? Laptop only: any browser service. Phone only: any app. Both, with one balance: VoixCall. Google Voice also does both if you live in the US.
  3. Where are you calling, and how much? Check the rate for that exact country and number type (mobile or landline). For a few hours a month to one country, an unlimited plan like Rebtel’s can win. For occasional calls to many places, pay-as-you-go credit that never expires is safer.
  4. What else do you need? A number that receives verification codes, a recording of the call, notes with the case number, a US 1-800 line from abroad, a shared team balance: these vary much more between services than the per-minute rate does.

Use VoixCall from ChatGPT or Claude

VoixCall has an MCP connector that works with Claude and ChatGPT. You approve it once from your own account, and you can disconnect it in Settings → Connected apps. Your assistant can then check a per-minute rate before you call, look up your balance and call history, read the summary of a recorded call, and read an incoming text such as a login code on your VoixCall number. It’s read-only: it can’t buy credit or numbers, and summaries and messages are only shared if you switch that on. We didn’t find a similar connector from the other services in this comparison.

How we checked

On October 17, 2026 we read each service’s homepage, pricing page, FAQ or help center and, where they have one, the US App Store listing. Rates come from each service’s own per-country rate pages and our own published rates. Where a service doesn’t state something, the table shows ”—” rather than a guess. If you work at one of these companies and something here is wrong or out of date, email support@voixcall.com and we’ll fix it.

Try VoixCall: your first call is free, in the browser or the app.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best international calling app with no subscription in 2026?

It depends on where you call from and what you call. VoixCall works in a browser and in native iPhone and Android apps, with pay-as-you-go credits that never expire, about 2.7¢/min to the US and Canada, virtual numbers that receive SMS, and optional call notes. Yadaphone and BoraPhone are browser-only alternatives, and Rebtel and Talk360 are app-only. On the routes we compared (UK, Mexico, Germany, India and the Philippines), VoixCall's rates are lower than Yadaphone's and BoraPhone's published rates. Check the exact rate for your destination before you buy credit.

What replaced Skype Credit for calling phone numbers?

Nothing from Microsoft. Skype shut down on May 5, 2025, and Microsoft Teams Free has no pay-as-you-go credit for calling ordinary landlines and mobiles. People who used Skype Credit moved to services such as VoixCall, Yadaphone, Rebtel, Yolla, Talk360 and Viber Out, which all call regular phone numbers per minute.

Which app can call landlines in other countries?

Every service in this comparison calls real landlines and mobiles, unlike WhatsApp, FaceTime or Signal, which only reach people who have the same app. VoixCall, Yadaphone, Rebtel, Yolla, Talk360, Viber Out, BoraPhone and Google Voice all charge per minute, and landline rates are often lower than mobile rates.

Can I call a US 1-800 number from outside the US?

Not from a foreign phone line: US toll-free numbers usually reject calls that start outside the US. Services that place the call from US infrastructure, including VoixCall, Yadaphone and BoraPhone, can connect to 1-800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844 and 833 numbers from any country. On VoixCall this costs about 2.7¢/min.

Do I need to install an app, or can I call from a browser?

Both work on VoixCall: the same account and credit work in the browser at app.voixcall.com and in the iPhone and Android apps. Yadaphone and BoraPhone are browser-only. Rebtel and Talk360 are app-only. Yolla offers apps plus web calls, and Google Voice offers both but only for US accounts.

Can I receive SMS verification codes on a VoixCall number?

Yes. Rent a virtual number from $2.00/month and incoming texts appear in the Messages inbox in the web app and the iOS and Android apps, with push notifications. 50 inbound text segments per number per month are included. Some services refuse VoIP numbers for verification codes, so test the one you need first.

Can I send text messages with VoixCall?

Not yet. VoixCall numbers receive SMS and MMS today; sending and replying by text is in development. If you need to send texts now, Yolla and Google Voice (US accounts) offer outbound SMS.

Is VoixCall cheaper than Yadaphone or BoraPhone?

On most routes, yes. Using each service's own published per-country rates on October 17, 2026, VoixCall was cheaper to the UK (3.0¢ vs 4¢ and 4¢), Mexico (3.0¢ vs 4¢ and 4¢), Germany (4.8¢ vs 6¢ and 7¢), India (8.0¢ vs 10¢ and 11¢) and the Philippines (31.6¢ vs 42¢ and 46¢). VoixCall also has native iPhone and Android apps, which neither of them offers.

Does VoixCall work with ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. VoixCall has an MCP connector that you approve once from your own account. An AI assistant can then look up a per-minute rate, check your balance, read your call history and call summaries, and read incoming texts such as login codes. It cannot buy credit or numbers. Setup is at voixcall.com/developers/mcp.
